Electric Turkey Fryers vs Propane
Turkey Fryers
Both electric turkey fryers and
propane turkey fryers have their pros and cons. Here are some of
the differences between the two turkey fryers. We hope we can help
you make a decision that is right for you and your family.
|
Electric Turkey Fryers
|
Propane Turkey Fryers |
|
PRO:
Electric turkey fryers are convenient. Your not
lugging around a 20 lb propane cylinder. Plug it in!! |
CON: That
darn cylinder . . . lugging it, refilling it . . .
|
|
CON:
Electric turkey fryers are made for indoor use. Have
you ever fried chicken inside? You feel like you are
wearing the grease for days. The smell seems like it
won't ever go away. |
PRO: You
aren't smelling and feeling like a deep fried chicken or
turkey. |
|
CON:
Electric turkey fryers don't heat up as fast as propane
turkey fryers. Once you add your bird to the grease,
the temperature decreases dramatically. It is hard to
bring your oil temperature back up. |
PRO:
Propane turkey fryers take less time to heat the oil.
They also take less time to bring your oil back to the right
temperature. |
|
PRO: The
electric turkey fryers have a safety feature that
automatically shuts off when your oil gets too hot. It
also lets you know if your oil is at the right temperature
(via the light at the top). |
CON: The
only way to tell if the grease is hot enough is via use of a
thermometer. There is no safety feature as far as
automatic shut off. |
|
PRO: The
electric turkey fryer is a little safer. Its harder
for kids and animals to knock into it. |
CON: Well,
not really a con. Hopefully, you will be very careful
not to have the kids or animals around your turkey fryer.
But still, there is more of a chance for someone to get
hurt. |
|
CON: They
are just B-O-R-I-N-G. Nothin' like a Cajun calling you
a wuss. |
PRO:
Sitting outside, getting some fresh air, deep frying a
turkey and having fun. The same reason you have a
barbecue pit. It's just not the same. |
Basically, clean up is about the
same. If you have ever tasted a deep fried turkey, you already
know that it is worth it. Clean up is just as bad as cleaning that
roasting pan or baking sheet. |
